Chain store McColl's is on the brink of collapse, with the convenience retailer saying "increasingly likely" it would fall into administration today (Friday) unless a rescue deal can be done.
Sky News reported yesterday that company could call in administrators.
More than 16,000 people are employed by McColl's in 1,400 stores, which has outlets in Newbury, Thatcham, Lambourn, Mortimer Common, Kingsclere and Tadley.
It said that discussions on a rescue deal are still ongoing.
