Meat Loaf rocked the racecourse in the rain last weekend

An audience of more than 17,500 gathered in front of the grandstand stage for one of the singer’s final performances, which concluded this year’s Ladies Day.
The two-part show included a number of his greatest hits, including Dead Ringer and Anything for Love followed by tracks from his album ‘Bat Out Of Hell’, including You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night) and All Revved Up with No Place to Go, performed in their original order.
The typical British summer saw rain fall just before he took to the stage, to which he said: “Just look at the lovely sunny weather we got.
“All we need is some sand and deck chairs and we could get a good UK tan.”
Concluding the show, Meat Loaf and his two female singers fired t-shirts into the crowd, before the singer screamed into the crowd: “And you can call me Meat.
“Thank you very, very much - don’t you ever stop rockin’.”
The performance followed an afternoon of racing, which kick-started just after 1.30pm on the day.
Managing director for events at The Racecourse Newbury, Stephen Higgins, said: “Over 17,500 people enjoyed a splendid performance from the legend that is Meat Loaf and his electric performance was the perfect end to what was a brilliant Ladies Day.”
