Dog of the Week: The latest dogs looking for their forever homes from Newbury Dogs Trust
Welcome to Dog of the Week; our online feature highlighting some of the dogs waiting for their forever home.
Dogs Trust Newbury has a number of dogs at its Hamstead Marshall base who need a new home.
Nationwide, the charity currently has 744 dogs that are looking for a family to join.
You can find out more about adopting a dog by visiting the charity’s website.
And each Sunday we will feature one of the dogs looking for a new home in West Berkshire.
This week we’ve got two to tell you about – brother and sister, Copper and Lady.
They are 18 month old bloodhounds, who were placed at the trust through no fault of their own.
Copper is male and would suit a quiet home with minimal visitors so that he has the time he needs to settle and come out of his shell.
Any children in the home would need to be aged 16+ and used to nervous dogs. Copper is a large dog who is quite strong so adopters with large breed experience would be preferable.
He is described as “a sensitive soul who takes a little while to build relationships with new people”.
“However once he trusts you he will be your best friend,” said Dogs Trust.
“He enjoys playing with toys and exploring on sniffy walks.”
Lady is described as “a gorgeous dog who is looking for someone who can take the time to build her confidence and continue with her training”.
“Once Lady has bonded with you, she is a wonderful companion,” the Trust added.
“Lady and her brother Copper have the best relationship and absolutely adore one another.”
The brother and sister did arrive at Dogs Trust together so any adopters willing to take on both dogs would be amazing, but not essential.
