Service to take place to remember victims of Forbury Gardens terror attack in Reading

A memorial service will take place in Reading’s Forbury Gardens on Sunday to honour the victims of last year's terror attack.

James Furlong, Joe Ritchie-Bennett and David Wails were stabbed to death on June 20 last year and family and friends of the victims will attend a service in Reading on the first anniversary of the attack.

The service is due to take place at 4pm on Sunday and will also be attended by those injured in the attack, witnesses and emergency services workers who were on duty on the day.

Due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions, members of the public have been encouraged to stream the service on the Reading council Facebook page as anyone wishing to attend will have to reserve spaces online.

Residents will have the opportunity to lay flowers at the Forbury Bandstand before the park shuts for the service.

A Crowdfunder has been set up to fund a permanent memorial in Forbury Gardens to remember and reflect on those who lost their lives.
