Met Office warns of more heavy rain this week




THE sun may be shining in many parts of West Berkshire today - but the district is being warned to brace itself for even more rain this week.
Weeks of severe weather has already taken its toll on much of the region - causing flooding to properties, disrupting public transport and closing many roads.
However - things are about to get worse from tomorrow.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of rain - meaning be aware - on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
It has also issued an amber warning for wind for Hampshire from midday on Wednesday to 6am on Thursday.
The whole of Back Road in Eastbury has been closed, as has Cromwell Road in Newbury.
In Lower Denford the road is closed between the A4 Bath Road and Hungerford Common, while two roads in Theale are closed - Deans Copse Road, and Hangar lane from Arrowhead Road to a point 240 metres south of the SwingBridge.
Reading Road, in Burghfield is shut between A4 Bath Road and Kirtons Farm Road, while Mill Lane and Sulham Lane, both in Tidmarsh, are closed.
Flooding has also closed St Mary's Avenue in Purley-on-Thames between the New Hill junction and the Water Side junction and flooding Burghfield Road is also closed between the A4 Bath Road junction and the Berry's Lane junction.

Meanwhile, flood warnings have been issued on the River Kennet - from Denford down to Marsh Benham and Theale down to Reading.
Elsewhere, further warnings have been put in place on the River Lambourn from Upper Lambourn to Great Shefford and on the River Pang at Bucklebury.
There are flood alerts in place on the River Kennet from Thatcham down to Reading and its tributaries from Berwick Bassett down to Newbury.
Earlier today, the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) announced it is operating at ‘Condition Red’ having declared a major incident following the issuing of severe flood warnings.
Thames Valley Police said drivers could face fines for driving along flooded roads while livestock owners in West Berkshire have been urged to take immediate action to protect their animals.
