Mias hair raises more than £780
Mia Lane, aged nine, of Wasing Lane, whose hair had reached her knees, decided to have it cut, owing to the potential danger its extreme length might have caused.
Mia initially looked into selling her hair to raise some extra pocket money, but the Aldermaston Primary School pupil then decided to get sponsorship for having her hair cut the proceeds of which, with her hair, she would donate to Little Princess Trust.
The charity provides real-hair wigs, free of charge, to children who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.
On Saturday, Mia had her hair cut at Hairport in Baughurst. Afterwards, her mother Frances said: “She was shaking like a leaf; she was so scared.
"We are very proud of her and she is pleased with the amount she raised.
“Our main worry was that she would hate it, and that it would ruin what she had done, but she loves it.
"She has done brilliantly for a nine-year-old – to raise that is such an achievement.
"It shows the difference one person can make.”
