Michelin-starred chef at school

Clere school pupils in Burghclere get tips from top chef

A MICHELIN-starred chef helped to show pupils from a Burghclere school how to cook healthy meals recently.

Chef Chris Horridge, director of the Fine Dining Academy, which is a Yattendon cookery school that teaches the art of fine dining at home, attended The Clere School on April 5 to offer advice to pupils taking part in a healthy cooking competition.

Two hundred pupils from the school were competing for their chance to win a share of £3,000 in the Let's Get Cooking BIG Cookathon, aiming to get as many people across the country as possible cooking a healthy meal in one day.

The cookathon involved 230 community cooking events and an expected 51,000 children and adults across England, with the aim of to encourage people to cook at home rather than eating ready meals or takeaways.

The national event was organised by Let's Get Cooking, a network of school-based, healthy cooking clubs for children and parents, led by the School Food Trust and supported by the Big Lottery Fund.
