"Mini volcano" in Thatcham caused by burst pipe
The burst caused the road surface in Heath Lane to crack yesterday afternoon.
One driver contacted NewburyToday to say that a "mini volcano" had appeared in the road.
Residents may experience fluctuations to their water supply while Thames Water carries out repairs.
Temporary traffic lights were in place in Heath Lane this morning (Friday) while engineers carried out repairs.
A spokesman for Thames Water, Craig Rance, said: “A six-inch pipe burst in Heath Lane yesterday afternoon. Engineers discovered that the pipe had broken in two places.
"The first leak has been fixed and we are currently repairing the second.
"During this second repair we will have to interrupt supplies to nearby homes.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
