Minute's silence for Her Majesty in Goring and Streatley on Sunday at 8pm

A minute's silence will be held this Sunday at 8pm in Goring and Streatley ahead of Her Majesty The Queen's state funeral on Monday.

Between 7.15pm and 7.45pm, there will be opportunities to sing hymns and the newly-adapted National Anthem and for quiet reflection in St Thomas’ Church in Goring.

Afterwards, local church leaders invite the community to form a single continuous line along the pavements from Streatley traffic lights, over the river bridge, to Red Cross Road in Goring.

People are welcome to bring a lantern or candle and their Union Flags to pay their respects in a simple but symbolic farewell.

Church bells will ring from 7.45pm and cease at precisely 8pm to mark the beginning of the period of national silence. The bells will resume ringing at 8.01pm while people make their way home.

The state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday at 11am.

Her Majesty's death marks the historic end of the second Elizabethan era.
