Newbury Model Railway Club celebrates ‘record attendance’ at St Bart’s School
Newbury Model Railway Club has hailed a “record attendance” at its 2023 exhibition, writes Harry Craig.
The exhibition, held at St Bartholomew’s School on Saturday, October 28, was a “fantastic, brilliant day”, say the organisers.
The exhibition featured 15 different model railway layouts, plus a variety of local and national traders, demonstrations and charities.
Matthew Burke, member of the Newbury Model Railway Club, said this year’s annual exhibition attracted the most attendees ever.
He attributed this to the “renaissance of model railway since the Covid-19 pandemic”, which has seen a surge in interest.
Demonstrations included one by club regular, Roy Hickmann, who showed what can be built using household items, and Stephen Povey from the High Wycombe Club, who demonstrated the use of static grass on a layout.
