Tickets released for previously sold-out Highclere Castle Battle Proms

More tickets have been released for this weekend's Battle Proms at Highclere Castle.

The popular event, which takes place this Saturday (July 31), sold out in April, with the organisers capping audience numbers in line with Step 3 regulations. Anyone who missed out will be pleased to hear that a limited number of additional tickets have now been released, but they should book soon to avoid disappointment as audience capacity is still significantly reduced.

Battle Proms marketing manager Emma Dexter said: “For the safety and reassurance of our wonderful audience, volunteers and crew, The Battle Proms team are still planning for a safe and spacious event with less than 60 per cent of our usual audience capacity and larger concert arena. Great news for those that missed out previously, but be advised that this ticket release is strictly limited, and we anticipate that the event will fill up again quickly.”

For those who might still feel cautious about the opening up of the roadmap, Emma added: “As we move into Step 4 and see many Covid restrictions being lifted on a national scale, we wish to remain cautious in our approach and will be maintaining our Covid safety measures with a smaller audience and social distancing on site.”

Regulars will know that the picnic concerts offer a spectacular night out, with sublime classical music and vintage vocals against a dramatic backdrop, with aerial and firework displays, but this year things will be a little different, including an earlier opening time to allow for smooth, spacious concert entry.

The New English Concert Orchestra, while slightly smaller in number this year to allow for distancing on stage, have lined up a two-hour programme of classical favourites, including the 1812 Overture and Beethoven’s Battle Symphony, performed with the full complement of 193 live firing Napoleonic cannon and choreographed fireworks.

The iconic Grace Spitfire - an annual highlight for many Battle Prommers - will again perform a choreographed aerial display to the opening pieces of the orchestral performance, including Elgar’s moving Nimrod and The Red Devils, the British Army’s official parachute display team will also be ‘dropping in’ with their breathtaking freefall display before the evening closes with a firework finale. So pack up your hampers, champers and flags – there’s still time to join the celebration.
