A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said that there is no indication that any of these incidents are linked.

They also said: "We would always urge the public to report any suspicious activity around bicycles immediately, and if anybody has any information about any of the thefts, they should contact us on 101, quoting the appropriate reference number."

Sergeant John Heatley of the Newbury Neighbourhood Policing Team also urged bike users to use a good bike lock, preferably one with a sold secure rating, and to keep their bikes in a secure place, such as in a garage or shed.

Those with information about the Station Road theft should contact 101 quoting reference number 432204444040, and those with information about the Hambridge Road theft should contact the same number quoting 43220443954.
