More phone lines go down in West Berkshire
Residents in Stockcross lose their phone lines due to a faulty cable
THERE is more misery for BT customers as about twenty homes are without phone line in Stockcross.
The phone company has confirmed it has received about twenty reports from customers in Stockcross to say they their phones are not working.
BT believe the problem stems from a faulty underground cable which was first discovered a week ago.
The fault follows the theft of 600 meters of cable from the Everington Lane area of Yattendon on August 9 which caused phones lines to be knocked out in Hermitage, Hampstead Norreys, Frilsham and Yattendon.
More than 200 homes and business were affected and phone lines are only just being reconnected following lengthy repair work.
Spokeswoman for BT, Emma Littlejohn, said: “We seem to think this fault could be related to a damaged underground cable we had in the area. We had around twenty faults reported to us in the area.
“We have managed to restore service to most customers now with a temporary fix and hope to insure a permanent fix as soon as possible.”
BT has joined forces with Crimestoppers and is offering up to £1000 reward for information leading to any conviction of metal theft after an increase in metal thefts nationally.
