More than 100 sheep stolen in Lambourn
Police seek eyewitnesses after the sheep were stolen from a field in Lambourn between October 2 and 3
THAMES Valley Police is appealing for information after a flock of sheep was stolen from a farm in Lambourn last week.
Between October 2 and 3 about 125 sheep were stolen from a field close to Foxbury Farm on Wantage Road.
The sheep are a mix of Speckled Face, Scottish Half Blood and Suffolk Cross.
Foxbury Farm is the only farm which breeds these types of sheep in the area.
PC Richard Fagan, from Newbury police station, said: “We suspect vehicles were used to carry the sheep from the field as there are traces of wheels not identical to the owner's vehicles.
“I am appealing for anyone who noticed a suspicious vehicle on the field, or if they saw someone transporting a flock of sheep to come forward.
“I am also appealing for anyone who had noticed someone who has acquired a large number of sheep, or if they have been offered any for sale, to contact police.”
Anyone with information can contact PC Fagan via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505.
If you don't want to speak to police or leave your name, call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The incident follows the theft of about 350 sheep from a field in Clapton, off Station Road in Kintbury in March.
During that incident a fence was cut to gain entry to the field and the sheep were led onto the road to be loaded.
