More than 200 people pop in for a cuppa… all to help Macmillan Cancer Support

Cake, hot drinks and the chance to browse some stalls – that was the winning combination for a charity event last month.

Members of the West Berkshire Macmillan Cancer Support committee organised a gathering for the charity’s annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event.

Attended by Thatcham mayor Suzanne Adamantos, the event saw more than 200 people go along to The Victory Room in Bucklebury.

The stalls sold clothing, pottery, jewellery, candles, biscuit tins and giftware, while a raffle was also a hit.

Organiser Keren Carolan, the chair of Macmillan, thanked Willie Hartley Russell for opening the gardens of Bucklebury House for the event, held on Thursday, September 26.

She added that it had been a very successful morning, with more than £2,000 raised and additional donations coming.
