More than 40kg of cannabis seized near Newbury
A MAN has been arrested after more than 40kg of cannabis was seized from a van near Newbury.
Officers from the Hampshire road policing unit stopped a Vauxhall Vivaro van on the A339 between Newbury and Basingstoke and found 42.5kg of herbal cannabis.
They later discovered £29,600 in cash inside the vehicle on Friday, July 30.
Andrew King, 39, from Twickenham, South West London, was arrested at the scene.
He appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with being concerned in the supply of a controlled class B drug.
He is also charged with acquiring, using or having possession of criminal property.
Mr King was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on September 1.
