More than 5,000 attend Thames Valley Police Open Day





The event, which was opened by Chief Constable Sara Thornton and Police and Crime Commissioner Anthony Stansfeld, was held in the grounds of the Thames Valley Police Training Centre at Sulhamstead
Highlights of the day included displays from the Dog Section, the Mounted Section and Berkshire Search and Rescue dogs.
The new police puppies were paraded, while visitors were also offered a tour of the dog section kennels.
Guests were given the opportunity to look around the high speed vehicles used by roads policing, solve a crime scene with the Crime Scene Investigation Unit, climb aboard the police boat with specialist search and rescue and tour the police helicopter with the pilots who fly it from the National Police Air Service,
There were also displays of classic police cars from Police Car UK and a memorial service to Thames Valley officers who lost their lives in World War One, as well as talks about what policing was like one hundred years ago.
This year Thames Valley Police supported two charities - Berkshire Women’s Aid and Barnardo’s.
