Mortimer Post Office to relocate?
Comments sought on proposed move
MORTIMER’S Post Office could be relocating.
The Post Office is proposing to relocate Mortimer Common Post Office to Budgens Stores in Victoria Road. The move would see a modern-style branch with extended opening hours.
Services would be provided during shop opening hours: Monday-Saturday: 7am – 9pm; Sunday: 10am – 4pm.
The Post Office said the move would provide an extra 43 hours and 30 minutes a week of service including all-day Sunday and Saturday afternoon. The branch would also open earlier and close later, making it more convenient for customers to visit. The proposed move would be with the current Postmaster’s agreement. The relocation would be part of a major modernisation programme across the Post Office network.
Regional manager, Will Russell, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking, because we know how important these services are to local residents. We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”
The Post Office is inviting people to comment on the move in a six-week public consultation, which closes on Tuesday, May 17.
Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, via the Customer Helpline on 03457 22 33 44 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.
