Serious back and leg injuries for motorcyclist following multi-car collision in Newbury
A MOTORCYCLIST has suffered serious injuries following a multi-vehicle crash in Newbury last night (Tuesday).
The incident occurred near Sainsbury's in Kings Road at around 4.27pm, as a man riding a motorcycle on the B3421 was involved in a collision with three cars.
Thames Valley Police spokesman Craig Evry said the motorcyclist had suffered "serious, but not life-threatening injuries" and had badly damaged his leg and back.
The man was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital and kept in overnight.
Mr Evry said a grey Ford Galaxy had taken the biggest impact, with a black Audi A4 and a grey Vauxhall Zafira also involved.
Two lanes approaching Bear Lane were blocked while the motorcyclist was attended to and the scene was cleared, and traffic queues stretched into nearby areas, Kings Road West, Hambridge Road, Bone Lane and Boundary Road.
