A NEWBURY man has denied driving after drinking almost three times the legal limit.
On Tuesday, October 5, Reading magistrates held a preliminary hearing into the case against James Hewitt-Jones.
The 38-year-old, of London Road, is accused of driving a red Mercedes on the A339 near Hectors Way, Newbury, on Tuesday, March 23, after drinking more than the legal limit.
Tests are said to have shown 89mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
The legal limit is 35mg.
Magistrates adjourned the case until a later date when Mr Hewitt-Jones will be expected to attend and to enter a plea to the single charge.
He was meanwhile released on unconditional bail.
