Newbury motorist Robert Popovici drank more than three times alcohol limit
A MOTORIST was caught behind the wheel after drinking more than three times the legal limit.
To make matters worse, he had no valid licence or insurance.
Robert Popovici appeared in the dock for sentencing at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 3.
The 36-year-old, of Collins Close, Newbury, admitted driving a grey Ford Focus on Craven Road, Newbury, after drinking more than the legal limit.
Tests showed 117mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
The legal limit is 35mcg.
Mr Popovici, who was legally represented by Rajah Azam, further admitted driving without a valid licence or insurance on the same occasion.
He was made subject to a 12-month community order and required to complete 60 hours of unpaid community work.
In addition, Mr Popovici was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £114.
Finally, he was banned from driving for 26 months.
