Newbury driver Cornel-Decebal Chirac had drunk more than FOUR TIMES the legal limit




A MOTORIST who drank more than four times the legal limit could be facing imprisonment.

Cornel-Decebal Chirac appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 6.

The 46-year-old, of Cresswell Road, Newbury, admitted driving a Nissan Micra on Walton Way, Newbury, after drinking more than the legal limit on October 6 last year.

Tests showed 142mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

The legal limit is 35mcg.

Magistrates adjourned the case for enquiries to be made with the probation service concerning arrangements for childcare should Chirac be sentenced to jail.

Chirac was meanwhile released on unconditional bail.
