Reading Magistrates' Court: man sentenced for high speed police chase through Thatcham




A MAN has been sentenced following a high speed police chase through Thatcham.

In the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on Friday, April 9, was Steven Derek Rackham.

The 31-year-old, of Loundyes Close, Thatcham, admitted careless driving.

Specifically, he admitted driving a Volkswagen Tiguan at high speed without due care and attention and overtaking other cars, despite there having been oncoming traffic, on Paynesdown Road and Gordon Road in Thatcham.

In addition, Mr Rackham, who has previous convictions, admitted failing to stop the vehicle when required to do so by police.

He also admitted driving without insurance.

All the offences were committed in Thatcham on Thursday, April 8.

Mr Rackham was fined a total of £800.

In addition, he was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £80.

Finally, Mr Rackham was banned from driving for one year.
