Calcot man Khalid Begg banned from roads for drink-driving




A man drank nearly twice the legal limit before getting behind the wheel.

Khalid Begg appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Friday, August 30.

The 36-year-old, of Burbridge Road, Calcot, admitted driving a red Ford Fiesta on Tilehurst Road in Reading on Saturday, January 27, after drinking more than the legal limit.

Tests showed 61mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

The legal limit is 35mcg.

Begg was made subject to a 12-month community order with a requirement that he complete 60 hours of unpaid community work.

In addition, he was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £114.

Finally, Begg was banned from driving for 36 months.
