Motorist trapped in car by floodwater rescued by firefighters in Burghfield




A man became trapped in his car by floodwater this morning (Thursday).

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS ) received a call to reports of a vehicle trapped in water in Bennetts Lane, Burghfield at 6.30am.

Crews from Whitley Wood, Mortimer, Bracknell Fire Stations and the water rescue unit from Caversham Road Fire Station were sent to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters rescued a man who had become trapped in his car by floodwater.

RBFRS said: “When flooding does occur, be careful while driving.

“Just 30cm of flood water can make your car float.

“If a road is flooded, turn around and find another route.

“It’s not worth the risk.”
