Motorists question confusing speed limit signs
The speed limit of a stretch of the Bath Road (A4) has recently been reduced to 30 miles per hour from 40mph.
Since the speed limit reduction motorists have raised concerns over the signs placed in the area.
Foliage blocking the new signs and a lack of signage at a selection of junctions were among the issues raised.
The town council has posed three questions to West Berkshire Council, asking if the 40mph sign that appears immediately before the 30mph sign can be legally removed.
It has asked if vegetation in the area can be pruned back to make the 40mph sign more visible.
It has also asked if the new 30mph sign can be put in all the places that the limit applies.
Councillor Simon Pike said: “It exists at the Turnpike Road and Henwick Lane junctions but not at the Tull Way or Lower Way junctions.
