MP hears of Theale success story

The business was established in 2007 initially by two shareholders and continues to be independently run, with an annual turnover of £21.5m and 29 employees.
The plant produces high quality asphalt, macadam and specialist surfacing products for a wide variety of uses, ranging from highway construction and maintenance to domestic customers.
During the visit, Mr Sharma heard about the business’ plans for expansion and how in the past 12 months the company had taken on five additional employees.
The business also has an asphalt manufacturing plant in Croydon and a dedicated asphalt recycling plant in Colthorp.
Alok Sharma said: “I was delighted to visit United Asphalt to hear their success story and to learn about this important industry. I am always very keen to hear from local employers about their impression of the economy and it was good to hear that they are doing so well.”
The managing director of United Asphalt Limited, Ross Snape, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Alok to United Asphalt and great to see his enthusiasm to support local businesses and get the economy moving.
“As we continue to develop United Asphalt it is vitally important we have a climate that supports construction and manufacturing, which are so important to the growth of the economy. This will encourage us to continue to invest in the business and to recruit more local talented people.”
