MP Lee Dillon steps away from council executive role but remains as a councillor in his Thatcham ward
There’s been a mini reshuffle of West Berkshire’s executive committee.
Lee Dillon – the former council leader - has also now stepped aside as executive member for public safety and community engagement.
He has yet to announce standing down as a councillor in his Thatcham ward, after he won the Newbury seat as MP in the general election earlier this month.
Justin Pemberton (Lib Dem, Thatcham West) has been appointed to the role.
”I am honoured to step into the role of executive member for public safety and community engagement,” he said.
“Our communities are the heart of our society, and their safety and well-being are paramount. I am committed to furthering our relationship with residents and ensuring that every voice is heard and valued.”
Jeff Brooks, leader of West Berkshire Council added: “I wish councillor Dillon all the best as he moves forward as a member of Parliament.
“We now welcome councillor Pemberton to the executive, and I know he will ensure that our communities continue to thrive, and their voices are heard.
“Justin is a very public spirited individual – he cares about people and will work tremendously hard to improve our services and thus residents’ lives. I am delighted to welcome him to the front bench.”
