Mr Moo Juice is best bar none
Newbury business comes out tops in newburytoday online poll
MILKSHAKE bar Mr Moo Juice was the clear winner in newburytoday’s online poll to find the best small business in West Berkshire.
The independent smoothie and juice outlet in West Mills, Newbury, attracted nearly a quarter of the votes in the Newbury Weekly News website’s competition to promote Small Business Saturday on December 5.
Users of newburytoday.co.uk nominated their favourite small businesses for the vote and then chose the ultimate winner.
Café Lambourn came second in the poll, children’s clothing store Isla Boo, from Bucklebury, was third, Gelato Joe’s in Parkway was fourth and Banjo Cycles from Hambridge Road, Newbury, came fifth.
Mr Moo Juice is owned by Spencer Tarrant, Stephen Millyard and Lee Chard and has been trading for more than five years.
Mr Tarrant said: “We opened in April 2010 offering the very best milkshakes and smoothies in the area, and successfully grew the business to open in Thatcham and an outlet in Parkway.
“But in early 2012, builders turned up to build the flats to the left of our business in West Mills with a very long and extended build which took two years.
“This slowed our plans for growth and made it very difficult to continue.
“It left us in a critical position, but the people of Newbury stood by us and supported us and we spent 2015 working very hard to re-build the much-loved brand ready for an uninterrupted 2016.
“Through popular demand we are now offering raw juice and starting the new year with juice plans to help with festive indulgence.”
Newbury Weekly News editor Andy Murrill said: “I’m delighted for Spencer and Stephen that their hard work is so appreciated by their customers.
“We had thousands of votes in our poll and the fact that Mr Moo Juice got almost one in four of them speaks volumes for their business.
“We really wanted to get behind Small Business Saturday this year as independent traders are the lifeblood of West Berkshire.
“Congratulations to all the companies that were nominated and I hope even more people get behind the promotion in 2016.”
