Equinox Learning Trust CEO leaving Kennet School in Thatcham after 10 years
A former Thatcham head turned CEO is leaving at the end of term to join another multi-academy trust.
Two years ago, newburytoday revealed how former Kennet School head, Gemma Piper, had been appointed to a senior role within the Kennet School Academies Trust, called the Equinox Learning Trust since November.
But Mrs Piper has now revealed she will be leaving her role as the trust’s CEO and accounting officer in September to join The Park Academies Trust in Swindon.
Reflecting on more than a decade of involvement with Kennet, Mrs Piper told newburytoday: “It has been a true honour to serve the community of Thatcham and contribute more widely across West Berkshire over the last 10 years.
“Aspiration and determination are two golden threads that run through all of those who work in our schools and volunteer time in governance roles.
“Our staff and volunteers all work together to ensure children leave school with exceptional life chances.
“From the launch of the impressive T-Level qualifications to our trust choir in high demand for local events, this showcases just some of the innovative ways in which the Trust has sought to provide the very best opportunities for all.
“The central Trust team work tirelessly to serve headteachers in the ever-changing environment, hungrily applying for additional funding and seeking opportunity to further benefit everyone in our schools. What a thing to have been part of.
“I will certainly miss the brilliant staff and pupils in the Trust, but leave firm in the faith that our ‘better never stops’ mantra will maintain our focus on high standards for a long time to come.”
Mrs Piper will be overseeing six schools in her new role, plus two new additions.
She was serving as Kennet’s deputy head when she took charge from retiring head, Paul Dick, in 2018.
Mrs Piper began her career in education as a computing teacher and is also a serving Ofsted Inspector.
The Trust is currently deciding her replacement as CEO.
