Multiple pile-up on M4
Two motorists were hospitalised after several vehicles collided near junction 15 last night (Thursday)
A MOTORCYCLIST was seriously injured in a three vehicle collision on the M4 last night (Thursday).
At about 9.10pm, a Land Rover Discovery appeared to lose control on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway near junction 15 (shortly before Membury Services) and hit the central reservation, rebounding and striking it again.
A motorcycle then became involved and the rider was thrown clear of his vehicle.
Then, a heavy goods vehicle appeared to collect the bike under its trailer and continued approximately 1km before coming to a stop.
The driver of the Land Rover sustained moderate spinal injuries with a confirmed fracture, while the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries to his legs, including a broken femur.
Both were taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon and police are currently trying to contact the family of the seriously injured motorcyclist.
No one has been arrested at this time, although police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and anyone with any information is urged to contact police on 0845 8 505 505, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
