Mums enjoy toddle in Newbury

Mothers and toddlers made their way around Victoria Park to raise money for children's charity, Barnardo's

MORE than 30 local mothers took part in a toddle around Victoria Park last week to raise money for the children's charity, Barnardo's.

Organised by Newbury mother Jane Doyle, the ‘Big Toddle' event attracted dozens of local mothers and toddlers on Friday (August 5), who made their way around the park with their buggies before enjoying a sing-a-long and various other activities for the children.

Mrs Doyle said it was a good turnout considering it was the first time the event had been held in Newbury, adding that she would look to organise similar annual events in the future.

She said: “It was a lovely day and I would definitely do it again.

“It is part of a national charity event, but I think it is always nice to do something locally and give something back to the community.

“I think I will try and arrange an annual event, although I may look to do it for different charities.”

Mrs Doyle added that although the final fundraising figure was not yet known, the fundraising efforts of the mothers taking part had already exceeded the target of £400 that she had been hoping for.
