Music for all at Newbury junior school
St Nicolas Junior school unveiled the vertical xylophone, metallic xylophone and drum pipes on Thursday following an inauguration held at the school.
Assistant Headteacher Heidi Davies said: “Our three free standing instruments will provide an opportunity for all children to access music in their own time. It can be self-initiated, develop creativity but also provide a therapeutic time for those who need it.
“We are looking forward to melodic lunchtimes ahead.”
The school said the initiative was down in part to the St Nics Parent Teachers Association and chairwoman Shirley Jarvill, and the instruments had been secured after grants from Sovereign Housing, Greenham Common Trust and Ernest Cook Trust.
