Music graduate launches community choirs in Thatcham Community Hall
Music graduate Hannah Maskell is channelling her love for singing into local choir sessions.
The sessions, for both adults and children, will run from Thursday, January 6, to March 30 at the Frank Hutchings Hall in Thatcham.
The adult sessions, Sing Louder, will be a chance to perform new and old numbers.
Sing a Little Louder will allow children aged seven to 14 to explore music from pop songs to those from musical theatre.
At the end of the sessions, a showcase event will be held where all the hard work can be shown off to friends and family.
Ms Maskell said: “It is something I have set up and it is something new.
“I just graduated from Southampton University in July and did lots of different modules.”
She said that it was doing musical directing at university that sparked an interest in choir leading and community choirs.
She added: “During the pandemic I helped out a lovely lady’s choir group, it was online.
“I led the sopranos group and got a taste of doing that, singing is just so brilliant.”
She continued: “I have been told singing lets off endorphins, it’s such a brilliant thing.
“If you have had a rubbish day or a rubbish week, coming along and singing helps.
“I love the idea of leading that and running that and having a fun environment.
“I just love singing.”
The choir groups are on offer for both children and adults.
Sing Louder will be held every Thursday from January 6 at 7.15pm and Sing a Little Louder at 6pm.
