Inspiring curiosity, imagination and a real love of learning

Are you seeking a primary school or nursery for your child? There are open days coming up at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School and Nursery in Newbury.

St Joseph’s is proud to offer a warm, welcoming environment inspired by the Danish concept of Hygge - a feeling of cosiness and a connection with nature.

.

The open days will take place on the following dates:

- Thursday 9th October | 1.30pm
- Wednesday 22nd October | 9.45pm
- Thursday 6th November | 9.45am
- Monday 24th November | 1.30pm
- Wednesday 10th December | 9.45am

The classrooms are filled with natural wooden resources and the children learn from an early age to take care of the school’s environment and develop an understanding of how we can protect the world.

The skilled and experienced team support and encourage children through open-ended learning - inspiring curiosity, imagination and a real love of learning. The adults work alongside the children to learn and discover together.

The children have a real sense of belonging in the school family and St Joseph’s are uniquely blessed to welcome families from many different cultures and countries, all of which is celebrated as a school family.

.

Family photos are displayed in the classrooms so the children feel comfortable and settled quickly when joining.

The Nursery class welcomes children from three years old giving children the opportunity to feel a part of the school family. This enables the children to become familiar with the whole Early Years team and classrooms, ensuring a smooth transition should they wish to apply to continue their education in the school.

St Joseph’s regularly runs joint sessions as an Early years team allowing the children to fully explore the classrooms and get to know all the adults. The classrooms have recently been refurbished to provide a high quality environment with children’s well-being, communication and development at the core.

The children begin building their relationship with God in an age-appropriate way, through stories and song - using the class ‘prayer bear’ to speak to God and pray to Him. St Joseph’s focus is on key messages of kindness, compassion and respect for all.

.

Everyone at the school believes in offering real experiences for the children through regular baking and cooking sessions, woodland sessions and hands-on opportunities with the class pet rabbits and fish. Children learn the importance of taking care of God’s creation in a real and practical way.

The school is located at Newport Road, Newbury (RG14 2AW). For more information, visit the official website or email office@stjosephs.w-berks.sch.uk.
