Thatcham’s Nature Discovery Centre enjoys a dog day for the Wildlife Trust

Thatcham’s Nature Discovery Centre let the dogs out to raise money for the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust.

The playful pups took to obstacle courses and treasure trails and a spot of sport with Kennet Flyball on Sunday, October 24.

Dogs loved the flyball relay race which saw them jump hurdles, retrieve balls, and most importantly, waggle tails.

The four-legged athletes performed well and provided great entertainment for all those who watched.

The flyball was in aid of Border Collie Spot Rescue, a charity based in Berkshire.

Kennet Flyball has taken in dogs from it and donated £50 towards the cause.

Kennet Flyball founder member and treasurer Andrea Sheperd said: “It was good fun but it was smaller because it was the first event.

"We still had quite a few people having a go."

She said that it may become an annual event with attendees enjoying both watching and partaking in the activities.

She added: “We like to support our local charities.”

The competitions held on the day included ‘most fur-bulous family’ and ‘best junior handler’.

There were also raffles and a dog craft market.
