Nature Discovery Centre Wildfest cancelled

The Nature Discovery Centre (NDC) in Thatcham has cancelled its Wildfest event.

The centre – run by BBOWT (Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust) – said the decision was not taken lightly but done for visitor safety reasons.

A yellow weather warning has been issued, from the Met Office, for high winds and heavy showers this weekend.

Wildfest is a summer celebration and includes walks, talks, music and family activities, with local food and drink.

NDC manager Steve Johnson said: “We have made the decision to cancel Wildfest this weekend due to the weather warning issued for high winds and heavy showers.

“It’s not a decision we have taken lightly but have prioritised our visitors’ safety.

“We are looking at alternative dates later in the summer and will let people know when a decision has been made.”
