Nature reserve to be built in grounds of St Bart's School

St Bartholomew’s School is creating the wildlife resource to encourage horticulture and an interest in outdoor learning for its pupils.
Along with a wildflower meadow built from scratch, a bluebell wood will also be created.
WiFi bird box cameras will steams images of nesting birds directly to big screens in each house block in the main school building, allowing all students to participate.
A new pond will also have a variety of native plants.
The school headteacher, Christina Haddrell, said: “Not only does this exciting new project give everyone across the school a chance to enjoy the great outdoors but it also fits in perfectly with our whole school vision to encourage our students to learn different skills with a focus on healthy living.”
The nature reserve is expected to be officially opened during the summer term 2013.
