NatWest banking meltdown hits West Berkshire customers
Branches in Newbury, Thatcham and Hungerford have been hit with the problems, which have affected businesses and individual accounts all over the country as a result of computer failure across the Royal Bank of Scotland Group network.
Since Wednesday, customers have reported balances not being updated and being unable to use some online services.
The bank apologised to customers and said it is working hard to fix the “unacceptable inconvenience”.
“We can assure our customers that this problem is strictly of a technical nature and will be fixed as soon as possible.
"We can also confirm that no customers will be permanently out of pocket as a result of this.”
NatWest said it would keep all branches affected open until 7pm tonight to assist customers who are unable to get to their branch during working hours.
