New A339 access to Faraday Road in sight...almost

If approved, the A339 will be widened to allow a dedicated right-hand-turn lane from the northbound carriageway off the A339 into the Faraday Road estate via a new entrance into Fleming Road.
Motorists leaving the estate will be able to access the southbound carriageway from the same new junction.Pedestrian and cycle routes will also be installed to form a new entrance to and from Victoria Park.
Outline plans for the area’s regeneration, submitted by St Modwen, reveal 300 new homes, including affordable housing, 14,000 sqm of employment space, an 80-bed hotel and healthcare and community services estimated to provide around 1,000 new jobs.
A council report into the road widening scheme states that if it did not go ahead, the estate would not be developed.
The junction is expected to cost £2.4m. Final contributions are yet to be confirmed, but the council anticipates £1.9 of that will come from the Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership, £250K from the governement's Local Transport Plan and £250K from Section 106 developer contributions.
