New assistant chief constable for Thames Valley Police

A NEW assistant chief constable (ACC) has been appointed to Thames Valley Police.

Richard Bennett, who has been with the force for nearly 25 years, took over from ACC Steve Rowell yesterday (Mon).

He will be responsible for the delivery of neighbourhood policing, tackling anti-social behaviour, and the development of strategic partnerships.

He will lead for the force on criminal justice, diversity and mental health.

He will also be responsible for policing in Buckinghamshire.

Mr Bennett, who lives in Wokingham and is married with two daughters, said: “I am delighted to be joining the chief constable's management team and look forward to the new challenge.

“I have been fortunate to work with some fantastic staff over the years and have come to love working at Thames Valley Police.”

Chief constable Sara Thornton said: “I am extremely pleased to welcome Richard to the chief constable's management team.

“He comes with considerable experience in a wide range of policing matters and I think he will be an excellent addition to the chief officer team.”
