New auction firm for former Cameo premises

Cameo is currently under investigation by police and consumer watchdogs and its boss, Jon King, has been declared bankrupt.
The new firm, Berkshire Auction Rooms, opens on September 1.
Sharon Wells, co-director with Paul Talbot, said: “We are absolutely nothing to do with Cameo - in fact, we were victims, too. We are trying to erase every last trace of them.”
Mrs Wells is a former Cameo employee and Mr Talbot is an antiques dealer.
She said: “We were both owed money by Cameo. We are going to run a legitimate and transparent business. We rented the site because it’s in an ideal position.”
Berkshire Auction Rooms open on Saturday and its first auction will be on September 22.
The firm’s advertisements state: “We are in no way connected to any company formerly at the premises.”
