An "overwhelming demand" for children to get involved in the Scouting movement has led to a new Beaver section being created in Newbury.

And last week 18 children and seven adult helpers were all invested into the Kimber Beavers.

"The 1st Newbury Scouts are going from strength to strength and due to overwhelming demand for children to get involved with the fun, challenge and adventure, the group have opened a new second Beaver section called Kimber Beavers," said group Scout leader for 1st Newbury Scout group, Yvonne Soulby.

"This is already giving new challenges to almost 20 young people, as well as many more already in the existing section.

"We've been overwhelmed with the eagerness of adult volunteers to get involved. Our new team of volunteers are new to this themselves and are keen to have fun, make friends and see the smiling faces on the children.

"We're lucky to have a strong and supportive team of volunteers in the Scout group already to help them get started."

Mrs Soulby said the group was keen to hear from anyone interested in getting involved. You can find out more at www.1stnewbury.org.uk
