New café for Victoria Park

The plans were initially put on hold in February after both lottery funds stated the application was too focused on new builds rather than heritage and would not increase the amount of people using the park.
Funding will now come in equal parts from the Greenham Common Trust and Newbury Town Council, through a public works loan, for the build estimated to cost in the region of £500,000.
The current kiosk and toilet unit will be demolished and the new facility will include indoor and outdoor seating toilets and an area to store pedalos and kayaks used in the boating lake.
The council also hopes to install new changing rooms for the use of local sports teams, although is relying on funding from Sport England before this can be confirmed.
Design submissions will be reviewed by the Victoria Park Working Group, with building work set to commence before April .
