Newbury Building Society welcomes new chief risk officer Michael Goddard




Newbury Building Society has welcomed Michael Goddard as its new chief risk officer.

Mr Goddard, who was a director at Deloitte in Reading for more than 20 years where he led the delivery of external and internal audit, brings extensive risk management experience to his new role.

He said: “I’m excited to be joining the society and contributing to its ongoing success.

“Working with building societies has been a core part of my career to date, and I was particularly attracted by the dual customer and employee focus of Newbury Building Society, as well as its contribution to communities where I have a family connection.”

Mr Goddard will be responsible for the society’s risk management, risk profile and risk culture across the business.

He joins as a member of the executive and will lead the business’ risk and compliance teams, as well as joining a number of committees.

He is also an experienced consultant, having offered business advice to several banks and building societies on strategy and risk-focused matters.
