New discount store opens in Newbury today (Tuesday)

The '99p' store will open in the town’s Kennet Shopping centre
THOSE trying to fight the recession will be delighted with the news that a branch of 99p Stores is to open in Newbury this morning.
The shop will open in the town's Kennet Shopping centre at the former site of New Look, which relocated to Parkway and also has a store at Newbury Retail Park.
A total of 35 new jobs have been created by the 99p store, which has 165 branches in the UK.
The unit is expected to be opened at 9am this morning by the firm's chief executive Nadir Lalani.
The shop is set to rival Poundland which already has a branch in the Kennet Shopping centre.
