Electric vehicle charging points installed by Osprey Charging at Newbury’s The Starting Gate pub

Osprey Charging, a national electric vehicle (EV) charging network, has increased access to public charging in West Berkshire.

It has now installed three high-powered EV chargers at The Starting Gate pub in Newbury to support local residents, businesses and visitors.

Access to charging is said to be one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption and the company said it expects the installation to encourage the uptake of electric vehicles in the area.

The 75kW rapid charge points are compatible with every EV on the market today, Osprey said, and can add 100 miles of range in just 35 minutes depending on the model of the vehicle and its battery.

CEO Ian Johnston said: “The electric transition is well under way and we’re here to provide a reliable and rapid public charging service for drivers.

“Each of our new locations is carefully designed to maximise space, accessibility and availability of chargers, working to the latest and highest standards.

“This new charging site in Newbury is a vital part of the re-charging network that will enable the decarbonisation of transport in the UK.”

Osprey has funded this installation and will oversee the operation and maintenance of the chargers, which are all supplied with renewable energy.

The chargers are easy to use and accept contactless bank cards, Apple and Google Pay, the Osprey App, RFID card payments, along with all major third-party payment methods, including fleet cards.
