New folk festival is Bourne
Valley Music Festival features Blowzabella, Luke Daniels Trio, Killbillies and more
Bursting onto the festival scene next week is the Valley Music Festival, a small festival in the centre of the North Hampshire village of St Mary Bourne from (Friday, June 24 to Sunday, June 26).
The folk-inspired music will include performances from local choirs, local classical musicians, Gaelic ensembles, dance bands as well as World Music. This festival should appeal to the whole community.
It features Blowzabella (with BBC Folk Musician of the Year Andy Cutting), Irish music band Luke Daniels Trio, and a hot new duo from Florida, the Killbillies, plus many more bands – including Belshazzar's Feast on Friday night, Lauren Goldsmith with others on Saturday lunchtime, workshops, children's activities, hog roast, barbecue and bar.
Organiser Mary Childs said: “There is a great deal of musical talent in our area as well as a sizeable population who we feel will enjoy this festival. We know very well that we will not even scratch the surface of what is available to us locally by way of musical talent and ideas.
However, you have to start somewhere, and the criteria for the festival are that the musicians are either local or known to us and that people in the Test and Bourne Valleys can feel that the festival is for them, although everyone is very welcome.”
