New hi-tech buses for pupils
School journeys to be outsourced to The Green Bus company, for pupils in the eastern area of West Berkshire
PUPILS at Theale Green School and Little Heath School are to get new high-tech buses.
Reading Buses is outsourcing journeys to the schools to The Green Bus company, from the start of the new term in September.
The buses have free WiFi broadband internet, and for parents there will be a hotline number and an online ability to track the buses anywhere on route.
An iPhone application will also be available from September, enabling pupils with smartphones to track their bus from the bus stop.
There are also significant discounts for parents with more than one child who travel using the Green Bus.
Parents have been informed of the change and The Green Bus demonstration vehicle will be operating from the beginning of June.
Reading Buses will be providing the dedicated school drivers, who will have undergone criminal records bureau (CRB) checks, and six seat-belted double deck buses in The Green Bus livery, which will be housed at Great Knollys Street.
