New Kennet head determined to take school from 'strength to strength'
Newly appointed headteacher Grace Rigg is optimistic about her future at Kennet School.
Ms Rigg, former deputy, stood in as acting head when Gemma Piper was promoted to CEO of Kennet School Academies Trust earlier this year.
She began her teaching career at Westminster Academy in London following a brief period working in television production.
“I thought working in television would be fast-paced, glamorous and interesting; the reality was repetitive and slow,” she said.
“I decided to teach for a short time before landing on what I would really do and discovered that I absolutely loved teaching.
“It’s incredibly interesting and rewarding, perhaps not so glamorous.”
She added: “At my very first interview at Kennet, I knew it was a school where I would be happy.
“The parents, pupils and staff are fantastic.”
Ms Rigg said she is determined to take the school from “strength to strength” and believes in a “traditional approach” to education.
She said: “Kennet is special because it strikes the right balance between enabling pupils to achieve the strongest possible results, as well as developing each pupil’s whole character.
“I am excited for what the future brings.”
